I've noticed that there are quite a few animal advocacy groups surrounding the Northern NJ area, but none that are local enough for me to get involved with regularly so out of that was born the idea for the North Jersey Animal Advocacy Alliance. (you can also find the NJAAA on facebook)

if you are veg*n because of AR, this might be a good group to look into. They host events, speakers, and meals. It is too late to sign up for their thanksgiving meal though :( I just found out about it yesterday.
